I just got back from the Humane Society, where the girl working there proved my point that people generally suck! Stopped on my way there to buy some dog/cat food and some toys for the homeless animals. My goal was to volunteer there 1 day a week. The lady in charge told me the food wasn't good enough, and neither were the toys. Bought rawhide bones for the dogs, but she said that "encouraging chewing only encourages bad behavior". Isn't in a puppy's nature to CHEW? Don't know what was wrong with the food...I guess it wasn't Science Diet, or whatever costs $30 a bag! And if I want to volunteer, I need to donate $100 or more and then take classes for a year or more. I'm willing to shovel ****! Do I need a degree to do that?! Aaaaargh! Those poor homeless animals don't have much of a chance if people have to go through her to adopt! Thanks for letting me vent...I hate people sometimes....

    Thank you for the input. What you said makes alot of sense. I think maybe I was just a little ticked because the lady treated me like scum. I know that this shelter is not state funded. When I told her I would just try the local pound, she told me not to go there, that they already get too many of our tax dollars. When I read the information this shelter provided, it said nothing about the things she said. Said they love donations & always need volunteers. And she took my catfood. Apparently that was okay. I just really feel for the animals under her care. It seems that no one would ever be good enough to adopt. Some people should not work with the public! I would like to commend you & your wife for volunteering...and I'm not going to let one rude lady ruin my day. I will find a shelter that can use my help. Thanks again for your comments.

    Wow, how strange! I wonder if it really is the shelters policy, or just the lady being mean. It seems odd that any shelter would say no to donations and help!

    what a total bunch of bs. do they really buy extremely expensive food? what for? so they can give the animals a healthy last meal before they put them to death? how annoying.........
