Depression And How Animals Can Help!

I have always been an animal lover but it wasn't until I was diagnosed with depression 3 years ago that I had the chance to really experience how animals are able to affect me positively.  Soon after my diagnoses, my partner and I welcomed a beautiful little Shetland Sheepdog (Sheltie) who we called Leo, into our life.  From the moment I looked into Leo's sparkly brown eyes I felt that I had met a soulmate.  I was right too, and its not just dogs that I feel this connection.  When I think about the most amazing experiences I've had in my life, you can be sure that they will more often than not, involve an animal of some kind.

I've recently discussed the positive effects animals have on my illness in my blog.  If you would like to hear more about my experience please visit me at

dogs give you totally unconditional love. They meet you at the door and are so happy when you get home. They walk you to the door when you leave, when you are sad or hurt they know and want to be near you to help you. All they ever want to do is love you and most people don't notice it. People usually say they have a pet and leave it at that. I am glad you now know how sweet they really are. I wish you the best in your battle. That is not an easy thing to overcome but I promise you animals will help. That is why they have Therapets in this country. They really are good therapy.
