My Love Of Apocalypse Fiction

... dates back to my childhood. I remember one of my brothers carrying around a book of Stephen King, The Stand. I was so curious and couldn't wait to read it myself. He told me, I was too young. So, when I got 16, I got some books I wasn't allowed to read before. Amongst them was "The Stand". I carried it with me for weeks. One day, on my way to school, I read the bit about Larry being in the cinema. People around him were coughing, had fever. No one noticed because getting a cold is daily life. At that point I heard people in the bus sitting behind me cough and vividly remember the goosebumps that I got on my arms...

There is something so peaceful about a world that is quiet. With lots of space for everyone (left).

It's nothing to confuse with reality. Things like famines or the Fukushima incident aren't peaceful at all. Actually those things mess up all this world could be like...

Maybe I like apocalypse fiction so much because it tells us what chances people have to make their life and surrounding what they need and want, no mater how little the odds are.
