The Starry Night

I like oil paintings very much. I have some paintings hanging on the walls of my bedroom. One of them is a copy of The Starry Night painted by a Dutch post-impressionist artist Van Gogh. The painting depicts the view outside his room window at night, although it was painted from memory during the day. The center part shows the village under a swirling sky, surrounded by the field of wheat, the mountain, the orchard and the olives.
What I extremely love about Van Gogh’s painting is the cypresses. They swirled into the starry sky like burning fires with anxiety and eagerness.
I found this painting in a small store selling decorations for the Christmas. It was so outstanding among all those stuff displayed in the store that it caught my attention at first sight. I could not take my eyes off it. I was so enchanted with the passionate colors and interwoven lines in it that I bought it without thinking twice. It makes my room so different! It adds a fabulous flavor to the whole atmosphere. I can always feel the passionate breath from the painting.
