One Of The Lucky Ones

I grew up in New York City the son of a former pro baseball player and a rabid Yankee fan. He trained me to play baseball from birth and after high school I signed with the Yankees in 1960. This was before the draft and I had several other teams offer me contracts. I played five and a half years ending up in AAA in Toledo Ohio. Iwas hitting 331 in August and was to report to the Yankees at the end of our season but was drafted into the Army went to Vietnam got hurt and that was the end of my baseball career. But i came home alive had a great business career and life so no regrets and I always had my love of the game. Yes, I was one of the lucky ones.
