Is It Right Or Wrong

"My son, pay attention to what I say. Remember my commands. Listen to wisdom, and do your best to understand. Ask for good judgment. Cry out for understanding. Look for wisdom like silver. Search for it like hidden treasure. If you do this, you will understand what it means to respect the LORD, and you will come to know God.

The LORD is the source of wisdom; knowledge and understanding come from his mouth. He gives good advice to honest people and shields those who do what is right. He makes sure that people are treated fairly. He watches over his loyal followers.

If you listen to him, you will understand what is just and fair and how to do what is right. You will gain wisdom, and knowledge will bring you joy." Proverbs 2: 1-10 (ERV)

“I am allowed to do anything,” you say. My answer to this is that not all things are good. Even if it is true that “I am allowed to do anything,” I will not let anything control me like a slave. 1 Cor 6:12 (ERV)

“All things are allowed,” you say. But not all things are good. “All things are allowed.” But some things don’t help anyone." 1 Cor 10:23 (ERV)

When I read these selected verses having to determine when something is right or wrong to do, knowing I am free moral agent. My first and primary question is to ask: What does God say? and I know what God says by asking what does the Bible say? 2 Tim: 3:16-17 teaches me "All scripture is given by God. And all scripture is useful for teaching and for showing people what is wrong in their lives. It is useful for correcting faults and teaching the right way to live. Using the scriptures, those who serve God will be prepared and will have everything they need to do every good work." and Psa. 119:105 informs me, "Your word is like a lamp that guides my steps,  a light that shows the path I should take."

I guess the follow up issue is what to do when an issue is not specifically addressed in the Bible? Knowing that the Bible is not a rule book, but a guide book full of principles keeps it relevant in every generation. I would like in this forum to develop that idea, and I would like to request your input. How do you/we find help and to know the rightness or wrongness of any situation?

Thanks in advance for sharing your thoughts. :-D
