Shame. Aldi are great, A fraction of the cost of all the other supermarkets and yet the food and products are as nice and better in some instances. I heard they had been brought up by Wallmart who run Asda though so don't know how much longer we will have them. Time will tell.

Don't remember, my friend. Guess I could google :) I've not visited an Aldi yet. I think they aren't as numerous as Tesco round here.

Remember the Pillsbury dough boy? I think they have gone out of business now but Aldi do a tinned raw dough version that we always get for holidays. Tastes quite good and you still get that smell of bread rising when you can't be bothered with the fath of making it!

Aaah, is that why? Hmm. I wonder. I do like freshly baked from the bakery though. Mmm... Thanks for the tips my friend!

It's very satisfying to bake your own bread, pounding away at the dough seems to get ride of my stress. I think the secret of the yeast is to make it a bit hotter than you would think. I remember doing an experiment in science and it didn't start to die until about 70'c which is quite hot isn't it? So long as it doesn't burn you I think it would be fine. I always add some malt extract to it as well as sugar I think it gives it a bit of a kick start. Make sure it's in a really warm place to rise and give it time to double properly too. We have warm air heating so in winter, I put mine next to the air vent but next to the hot water tank is good and also the grill door if the oven is already on. Baking them with a bowl of hot water in the oven helps too. You'll never get it like shop brought bread though. They add chemical improvers to their dough which is why it is always so light and fluffy compared to home baked bread.
