I Love Camping
I am not a purist camper, however. I like a warm bed off the ground, for instance. I like having a bathroom, and a fridge....
So, I am a girly camper, I guess some would say! lol That's ok... I like my comfort, and hate being cold...so sue me. :P
Tents just aren't my thing. But we still camp "in the rough", in that we prefer campgrounds which are very natural, somewhat secluded, and well forested, over RV parks with no trees, asphalt everywhere, too many people, and your nearest neighbour an arm's length away. Often these secluded campgrounds have no electricity or hookups of any kind, so basically it is still "roughing it" in a way, just with warmer, cleaner shelter! lol We take our bikes, and like to go exploring that way...if there are maintained trail systems....all that much better. I love spending such quality time with my boys, and watching their wonder at the things they discover. :) Provincial and National parks are also nice because some have Interpretive shows, that we like to go see every night, to learn about animals and such. Plus they provide shower buildings! Yay! lol
Today, it is finally time to go clean the thing, because we are off on our first trip in a couple of weeks. Not so fun to clean it after the long winter...but I love the way it smells just walking into it. I am instantly transported to Summers past....and thoughts of roaring campfires and singing birds....rushing waters, and the scents of pine, and nature in general. And I love that it is finally time again to go "live in nature" for a week or so, at a time. It is good to be internet and TV free, although I do confess to bringing the iPod. lol Can't go without tuneage!! I would go INSANE! I write a lot, read, and draw, and do things in the non-exploring time that I don't usually find time for at home because I am distracted by this stupid box!
