My 8mo. Puppy Is Randomly Bad

Rye, my 8 month old lab pitt mix, is very smart. She unfortunately chooses when to disobey. I'll let her out to use the bathroom very regularly & she always complies, if I'm worried she may need to go I let her out immediately & she happily goes outside without a leash & runs right back in (we have our own backyard). When we are not home she stays in her cage & never goes potty there. If I stay up later than usual (for example, tonight I stayed up a couple hours later) she will find a location directly in front of me & PEE. I swear, she will look right at me as if to say, "I want to go to BED" & pee, has anyone else encountered this problem? If so, what did you do to remedy it? My puppy is very smart but also very stubborn. Please help!
