Don't Think They Understand The Game Though

I've always loved cheerleaders.  My favorite cousin that I grew up with and went to school with was a cheerleader for football and basketball.  It was a lot of fun to go with my teammates to watch them compete in the cheering competitions.  My wife and I have a daughter who is a cheerleader now for varsity football.  She cheered for pee wee football and it was always funny to see them try to keep the cheers in sync with what was happening on the field. I've tried teaching her the game, but she is more interested in the players than the game.  I'd be interested to findout how many cheerleaders really love and understand the game that they are cheering for.

My wife was never a cheerleader (wasn't interested), but understood the games and led the cheers from the cheer section in the stands. However, several of her older sisters were cheerleaders and they understood the games quite well. So from my limited sample, I'd say about half of them understand the games.
