I Wasn't Born There, But It's My Home

I first moved to Colorado when I went on the exchange program during college. I loved it so much I transferred to college there and graduated with only one year left! I lived there for five years and it was probably the best time of my life. I miss it terribly. I had to move back home because of money problems after my husband and I had our first child. I've been back in Louisiana for 5 years now. My husband went through grad school and now I am in law school. My dream is to graduate law school and find a job in Colorado. Besides the fact that it's clean and environmentally conscious, Colorado is a healthy state. The scenery is obviously beautiful. There are tons of outdoor activities. The weather is great. I have horrible allergies here in Louisiana, but I felt wonderful in Colorado. I love the snow! When I lived there, I felt happy when I woke up in the mornings. I knew when I looked out the window, the sun would be shining and the mountains would greet me. The mountains always felt like a blanket to me -- I felt safe and protected there. I felt like I could crawl into any nook or cranny to hide, or climb to the top to be free. I cannot explain why I know that Colorado is my home, but I know it is. I can't wait to get back. Not a day goes by where I don't miss it. I know the day I move back I will cry when I see those mountains again and know I don't have to leave anymore.

I love your story about Colorado. I love it here too. I wish I could get all of my family here. I have been drawn to it and had never visited it until October after my husband and I had been seperated for over a month. Things seemed so gloomy for us and I always wanted to visit. I came out and saw an old friend that has lived here for yrs. and when it all came down to it I wanted to run to the mountains. I love the feel of nature around me although I live in an apartment now. My view out my bedroom window is the mountains. I know exactly what you mean by looking out the window and seeing them. I hope your dream comes true soon. I hope all is well with your family and school. Take care and thank you for sharing.
