I Love Competitive Swimming
Yes, we're a swimming family. Having escaped the dance cult, we somehow slipped through the fingers of the soccer cult. But we're DOOMED now! Swimming has us. RUN, get awAYYYY! (just kidding of course)
It is amazing to see how consuming the kids' activities cab though. 18 or so meets per year, 14 practices per week, Booster Club meetings - the list goes on and on.
But we've found the rewards to be large. First off there's the health benefits. But that's nothing compared to having teen daughters who sit and TALK with you. My 15 year old loves to lay on her daddy's side of the bed when I'm gone. The growth in them has been amazing.
And this week while I've had surgery and my middle girl had pneumonia, those swim families we see every day reached out to us with food and encouragement.
Without a doubt the best 45 million dollars I'll ever spend! And who knows, maybe one them will get a 500 dollar scholarship out of the thing!
