Profondo Rosso In Roma

I had the opportunity of a lifetime to go to Italy for two weeks back in 2006. Besides seeing Venice, most of Tuscany and Rome, my favorite part of he trip was when I got to go to PROFONDO ROSSO. It's the Argento store and museum located near Vatican City in Rome. The clerk working at the time spoke English less fluently than most of the other Roma Italians we had encountered but did manage to tell us that he knew Mr. Argento well and that the director made frequent visits to the shop when he was not working on a project.
The store wasn't anything above and beyond some of the good horror/collector shops in the states but in the basement was something you can't find anywhere else in the world- The Dario Argento museum. Full of props from his movies and other Italian Giallo masters films, it was setup like a dungeon with each cell housing bloody, disturbing scenes made up by mannequins and props from films like TENEBRE, OPERA and DEEP RED. It was kind of cheezy but I wouldn't have missed it for the world.
