Mysore Elephants Taking A Bath During The Annual Dasara Celebrations

These elephants are brought in from neighboring forest camps ( of course they are tamed  and trained )

They get fully decked and walk in a procession during the 9 day celebrations in Mysore.  Each has 2 people who take care of it - from day one, and they cannot be changed. The elephants listen to only them and this is a tribe who specialize in Elephant rearing for generations.
The folks who rear and take care of them are tribals from rural areas.

I was there in Mysore this year for two days during Dussera and saw a few of them march royally on the wide roads of Mysore (though I was not there for the scheduled mass procession of elephants). Cool sight.
