What Got Me Into Genealogy

Truth be told, it was probably the stories that my parents used tell about my ancestry that captured my first interest. Mom always told us that we were descendents of John Jay (important figured in United States history), which just gave us kids a sense of pride. But what really got me was the story from my dad that my great-great grandfather was born on NY Harbor. I wanted see if the story could be proven and if it was possibly to find who his parents/siblings were.

As my research took shape, it became wonderful to learn about new information about family members and becoming in contact with distant relatives.

I have experienced the same. Met so many relations that I never would have. It has been a blessing, and a wonderful trip I am still taking.
