Red Wine

 hi

I am south african and i am exposed to lots of red wine. I do not drink much, however.

we have many good reds, some are very expensive and some are absolutely reasonable. the choices are stunning and varied. We have merlot, cabernet, shiraz, and then we also have varying blends of these.

It is important for one to decide on what one feels inclined for.

We also have rose and blanc de noir if my memory serves.

I love cooking a nice "heavy" stew with a full bodied red.  needless to say, I think that just about equal amounts of red go into the pot as into the chef's glass. we certainly should not let a dish be served without testing it first, right?

Thank you and agreed completely

Ah, ms gr8white - good choices. Pinotage, Merlot, or Shiraz is always good and the Tinta is definitely a noble red.

Oh how I love wine! Gr8white I am going to try your suggestions, thanks! Always looking for a good wine to try

hahahaa. love it! "just my palate is.............."<br />

well, Zonneblom is not always the most inaccesably priced red except when it wins two golds, say. Some of those Stellenbosch wineries do very well in terms of awards.<br />
<br />
Tassies and Chateau Libertas work rather well for cooking {and sipping while cooking). hahahaa<br />

My absolute favourite is Zonneblom Shiraz. Pure angel nectar! I am a red wine girl, but for some unknown reason have a very expensive palate. I hate what we call "Plonk". I'm really not a snob, just my palate is .... X@

The blends are good too, say a merlot/pinotage blend

I love a South African Pinotage, Shiraz and Merlot. A Cabernet Sauvignon is a good "friend" during winter. I just love my red wine,
