Grey Short Trousers

Since 1958 when I was one of the last four boys in my school year aged 13 1/2 to remain in short trousers I have had a fascination for wearing short trousers and do so on all possible occasions. The feel of the cool air around my bare knees and thighs is something I continue to enjoy in my sixties, though when I was a teenager I couldn't wait to get into long trousers and be like the other boys. From 14 till about 25 I hardly ever wore shorts and consider those wasted years now. When I have to put long trousers on I hate the feel of the material around my legs. Other aspects of school uniform are not important to me.

At my grammar school in 1960 I was the only boy wearing grey flannel short trousers in the fourth form. There was a bit of teasing but I really loved the short trousers and still do, The lovely feeling of bare knees and the brush of the short trousers hems against my legs was wonderful. Eventually I went into longs but it was with deep regret.

I really enjoyed this, being a grey school shorts enthusiast myself

That's one benefit of living in the tropics: I can wear shorts all year round and not feel uncomfortable.

Cor - it's not the weather for shorts here in Southern England!

Perhaps you could put your shorts on indoors and turn up the central heating or sit by a roaring fire. No need for long trousers then.

I'm in similar situation though didn't discover the delights of shorts until relatively recently. I don't have any school shorts but I do have my old PE shorts, and they still fit!

St Richard's School - a co-educational catholic boarding school in Hereford (UK) requires boys to wear grey cord shorts all year round. View
i had to wear Short Trousers till i was 16 even at home

Great experiences here.
Who would welcome the opportunity of a shorts experience exchange on Skype, or would that be against EP policy?

Hi, there are some other good places to share shorts experiences on-line. Contact me off-list of you'd like to know more.

I wore shorts as part of my uniform until age 14. In my school, there were two boys seated at each desk. The boy that shared my desk often put his hand up my shorts and played with my penis.
I think it was that experience that started my life-long liking of wearing shorts.
I still love to wear shorts. I wear them outdoors whenever the temperature is above 10C. and I wear them indoors all year.

How did he manage without anyone - particularly other pupils who'd probably make more of it as a subject for teasing etc than the teachers - noticing? You and he must have been quite discreet. Still, sounds as if you both enjoyed it, and that's what counts!

I remember similar experiences with the boy who sat nest to me and myself putting out hand up each others shorts trousers at school and playing with each others penises. It was really lovely.

At school I sat next to another buy, Timothy. We both wore grey school short trousers at 14 and loved to feel each other's willies. We would often go to the school toilets for a **** at break and lunch time. I still love wearing short trousers and thinking about those days.

That was one of the joys of wearing short trousers, that it was so easy to put your hands up the trouser legs of a friend and play with his penis, making him get really hard whilst getting really hard yourself. Of course there was a limit to what you could do in class. But afterwards in the school toilets ... aaaah!

I sat next to another really attractive boy at school. We both wore grey school short trousers and loved fiddling with each other with our hands up the legs of each other's short trousers.

I went to a private school in the state of Texas. Our school uniform was too simple for words. As the Houston area is blazing hot and humid in the summer, we wore walk-shorts that came above our knees. We wore white shirts, a striped tie, and slate grey long pants in the winter, and shorts in the summer.
I thought the uniform was incomplete and always longed for the formality of the British schoolboy uniform with blazer, shorts, school tie, cap, etc.

As an English schoolboy I wore grey school short trousers, blazer, school tie, school knee-socks' and school cap, and, in wet weather, a traditional navy school gabardine raincoat. There was lots of penis fun with my best friend, dressed in the same way, and sometimes some lovely sucking each other. Beautiful!

How about jellied eels in your pants mate.

Yes Peter you are right about schools "down under" and very smart and practical too. I firmly believe that boys are better dressed in short trousers and should remain so until 16 at least. In my case, I went into longs for school at 15 but even then always wore shorts at home. it follos , therefore, that as soon as I returned in the afternoon from school I would immediately remove my long trousers and don a pair of grey shorts before settling down to my homework. At weekends and during the holidays I did not, of course , wear my school uniform and so I did not usually wear grey shorts. In winter it would be cord and in the warmer months cotton drill khaki.
And yes, even in my late teens, my Mum would sometimes land a hand print on those bare thighs
There are still a few private schools in UK that boys wear grey suits with short trousers and traditional long socks. This probably hasn't changed for fifty years or more. As these are prep schools I assume that this uniform is worn up to 12 years of age. i doubt if any shops now sell boys suits with shorts though in the 60s they were still popular. Many schools in New Zealand and Australia still require boys in secondary school to wear short trousers and long socks even in cold weather.

As a schoolboy I didn't wear a grey short-trouser suit for school but I did have one for @Sunday best'. I wore it for Sunday School and church with my long school socks, school tie and school cap and, in wet weather, with my traditional navy school gabardine raincoat.

Boys at Stellenbosch boys school in South Africa seem to be able to choose shorts or longs. About 60% seem to opt for shorts. How smart and practical.

As I have already stated on this forum, I wore shorts for school until almost 15 and always at home until leaving school at 19/ As far as I am concerned the one real downside of wearing shorts was the expanse of bare thigh on tap for my Mum to spank for just about everything. Of course for serious stuff then I was spanked good and proper on my bare bottom

Yes, when I was short trousers mummy often gave me a slap across my thighs. For more seriousness naughtiness my daddy used to take my short trousers and underpants down and whack me hard across my bare bottom with one of my own black school PE plimsolls. I hated it at the time but now I often fantasise about it . I especially enjoyed seeing my younger brother being punished in the same way. Wow! The strange joys of boyhood!

And why should that apply only to boys? Men, too, need to be freed from the bondage of long tubes of material covering their legs.

I agree 100% with everything you say Howill

I wore shorts to school until I was aged 15, and scout shorts until aged 18. It was not a problem because all the other boys did so too. I think wearing shorts is healthier, and much more comfortable and practical for boys: you don't have to worry about damaging them like you do with longs, and your legs get brown and absorb vitamin D which is healthy.

That's true!

I think there must be many men who have rediscovered short trousers as adults, having been made to wear them as boys and teenagers. I had a holiday in England this year and in spite of the unseasonal weather there were many men in shorts - and even a few ending well above the knees. What looked ludicrous was seeing a father in shorts with his son in long trousers, but maybe he too will get the message that shorts are comfortable eventually.

I wore short trousers until I was seventeen because clothing was scarce and had to be bought with coupons and it did not take as many coupons for short trousers as longs. I finally made it to long trousers at 17 years 10 months just before I was called up for national service. I started wearing short trousers again when I was about 30 and have worn them ever since. The pairs I have are lined and a six inch inside leg.

I wore grey short trousers that were lined in white cotton , for school until i was almost 15. Even then as soon as I got home from school I had to take my longs off and put my shorts on . This continued until I left school at 19.

I wear short trousers up to my Metric year, as well as during my later studies! Nice and cool in a very hot country. Easier to ride a bike. I still wear my short trousers!

Thanks for that Redthighs - am a little envious of the sort of weather you have there. Old England today is rather wet and don't suppose my shorts will come out for several weeks.
I don't understand why fashion dicatates these cycles when short shorts are in followed by long shorts. Short shorts were worn when I was at school for gym & sports, but rather longer ones as part of school uniform. Pictures of prewar footballers always looked old fashioned with their long shorts, and over the years everyone went into shorter & shorter shorts until around 1990 when they got longer & longer.
Only rugby pla<x>yers now seem to wear short shorts. However athletes seem to have gone down another road altogether keeping very short shorts or their Lycra ones which are far more revealing.
Best wishes
Good to hear from you. I don’t remember my parents making any comments about the benefits of short trousers – my father was in the clothes trade and probably got them at a discount – he was always looking for ways to save a few shillings, and I’m sure long trousers would have been more expensive.
Since 1975 I have lived in tropical southern Africa, and shorts wearing is now a year-long activity, even during the cooler damp days in June and July.
You will be pleased to hear that I never wear shorts that don’t leave my knees and at least three inches of thigh visible. I still have some very short pairs from the 1980s which I wear at home, but tend to have a minimum of 6” inside leg for public viewing.

Dear Redthighs
Your experience is very similar to my own - I wore shorts at Grammar School long after most of the others in my form were in longs - my father used to say 'long trousers will hurt your knees'. I think my parents put off buying me longs till my shorts were either worn out or too tight for a growing boy.
Unlike you though I wore shorts all summer whenever I could during the holidays or after school.
Am now in my pensionable years and still like wearing shorts whenever its warm enough. There is am unspoken competition where I live to see who is first into shorts each year. Unfortunately I spotted a neighbour gardening in shorts today, so I've been beaten this year.
By the way I hope you don't wear those awful shorts over the knees - personally I favour no more than a 6 inch inseam and preferably something even shorter.
Keep up the good work
Oldboy
