Autumn Days When the Grass Is Jewelled

It is more also the time of year it encapsulates

I now accept cold weather, as that is what I am used to at this time of year, yet it is a crisp coldness in which you can see your breath in the chill of the morning.

Each Halloween, I take a week's leave from work, at the start of the week I will go away for a few days and then will return in time for Halloween celebrations, as it is very much a big event. There is a large firework display. Ironically, the first year i moved to Belfast, i stood at a viewing point beside apartment i now live in and said, 'One day I will live there', two months later had a deposit put on one of the apartments.

I then go into the city for a few drinks and stand with someone's sparklers for some reason watching everyone go around laughing and having fun to the various Halloween parties and event themed nights- my costume is Flutterbly in her warm clothes :)

Always before we got off for Halloween at school, we used to sing the following song and it was something that epitomised this time of year to me and I shared it with a friend tonight as I was surprised that it was actually online

Autumn days, when the grass is jewelled
And the silk in a chestnut shell
Jet planes meeting in the air to be refuelled
All these things I love so well
So I mustn't forget
No, I mustn't forget
To say a great big thank you
No, I mustn't forget.

Clouds that look like familiar faces
And winter's moon with frosted rings
Smell of bacon as I fasten up my laces
And the song the milkman sings.
So I mustn't forget
No, I mustn't forget
To say a great big thank you
No, I mustn't forget.

Whipped-up spray that is rainbow-scattered
And a swallow curving in the sky
Shoes so comfy though they're worn out and they're battered
And the taste of apple pie.
So I mustn't forget
No, I mustn't forget
To say a great big thank you
No, I mustn't forget.

Scent of gardens when the rain's been falling
And a minnow darting down a stream
Picked-up engine that's been stuttering and stalling
And a win for my home team.

So I mustn't forget
No, I mustn't forget
To say a great big thank you
No, I mustn't forget.

This is my favorite time of year as well. I've already said much about it here at EP, so I shan't belabor the point, but I do love this season best.

Here in Colorado Autumn is beautiful and the weather is too perfect to be true.
I love this time of year!
Flutterbly, thanks for sharing that song. I copied it to word so I could keep it.
:)

mmm... I also love this time of year, although more in theory than in reality. Here in my neck of the woods it is 80 degrees, dry as a bone, and we have wildfires raging... but a girl can dream, huh?
