Loss Of A Great Athlete

Today I attended the end of a great era of Highland Games, when along with 500 other mourners we put Heavy Field Athlete Stephen Robert Aitken to rest. One of very few, he was a recipient of the prestigious Donal Dinnie Trophy. A wonderful all-rounder in his time. He had won in every discipline in his time both in Light and Heavy Field, along with on many occasions winning on track.
Dedication was his watchword, travelling every weekend from Stockton on Tees to where ever a Games was being held.

Condolences were read from around the world, for where ever Games are held outside Scotland, Stephen had competed. I am sure many of you will have witnessed his great feats.
