I Love History

History Teaches Me About The Present

I've always loved fascinating stories.   And to me history is a fascinating story unraveling throughout time, throughout the world, with new characters and plots and twists.

Yet there is a continuity of theme throughout the human element.    Goals, achievements, failings, beliefs, errors all appear and re-appear and reveal a common code of humanity.    Tales from an ancient place and time have the same human element as today.    After reading so much history, whenever there is a "new development" in the world,  it rings with familiarity to me.   The world seems less complicated because so much of what is happening now has occurred in the past. 

The successes and failings of humankind constantly echo through history, and the sounds are easily recognized in today's world.

    it is true that history can be a fasinating subject, but it seems that past history of the type we were taught in the days of our time has seemed to gone by the wayside and the type of history that is taught today in my opion seems to be lacking something and is not to the point of what real history is

    Well Kate... Hitler put a lot of people to work but a few years later most of them were dead. You might want to consider finding another example for what we need.

    I agree, there is so much we can learn from studying history that we can apply today. Many of us yearn for simpler times in the past but were they really simpler or is it just perception?
