Thinking About It

I'd like to be a hobo.

I'd train hop and hitch hike and I would jump on freight trains

it seems like a really good life.

I just need a rucksack....

I have hopped freight trains and hitch hiked. Never gotten a bad ride. Being a girl does not increase your chances of getting a bad ride, actually its usually sweet and concerned folks who pick you up. Of course thats not easy to know unless you do it because hollywood loves to capitalize on a good travelling story. The travelling community is very strong and will help you learn to be good at it and find the resources you need. Carry a knife and you will be just fine if you are clever. I started travelling at 15.

Oh but dreams, those dreams! I agree, what a life what a freedom...there are other ways to do it today where you wont freeze to death, I know people who bought a beat down car and drove down USA and all of south america making and selling jewelry and playing music on the street...fully possible to find your niche of complete freedom, travel and carelessness...;-)

Well I can see how one would think that being a hobo is fun because of the freedom to go wherever and do whatever at anytime.
But in reality, it is a very, very hard life. Not knowing where you are going to sleep or get to eat.

Now a days they get kicked off of the trains. It is nothing like it use to be.

I would never wish that on anyone. Hobo's are even found dead because lack of food or froze to death or beaten.
Hitch hiking is too dangerous. Too many weirdos out there. Times have change.

Plus being a girl just doubles the trouble. It is too risky Sweetie. I would give it some serious thought. Unfortunately this world is a cruel place. Nothing like when I was young. Sad to say.
Best of luck to you.
