I Love Jazz!

I've had jazz in my life for a long time. My dad used to like to listen to modern jazz, but in truth that style really does nothing for me. I love bebop, swing and combo jazz, as well as the vocal jazz greats like Nat King Cole, Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, Diana Krall and Mel Torme. I also like some of the more unusual jazz I've heard, like a lot of the things off the Cowboy Bebop soundtrack (a great one for jazz lovers, as a lot of it is very innovative and cool jazz). I learned a lot about jazz in choir throughout school- I was in six different jazz choirs of different levels throughout junior high and high school. It was a great experience to get to travel, and we got to meet a lot of great, professional jazz musicians who loved to work with us.

"Black Coffee" - "Spring Will Be A Little Late This Year." This CD was recorded during her very best years. I did an El Lagarto review on Amazon and said, "It was the closest you could get to heaven without dying first."

Wow, that's amazing that you were able to see her live! Thanks for the recommendation!

Of the people you mentioned, I like Sarah Vaughan best - aka - "The Divine One." Her voice was stunning, she had a 4-octave range. I saw her once and she absolutely owned the audience, she held us in the palm of her hand. Columbia released a fantastic 2-CD set called - The Divine Sarah Vaughan - The Columbia Years. I highly recommend it.
