I Love Jewelry
My late father was a successful jewelry designer in Morocco in the 1950s. He had his own store in Fes and his store's following drew the attention of the King of Morocco, who commissioned him and his brothers to design a beautiful bejeweled dagger for display in the royal palace. He eventually came to the United States and started designing for classic brands like Tiffany and Harry Winston. I grew up helping him out in his business in New York City during the 1970s and fell in love with the process of sourcing raw gemstones and learning about them. My father specialized in gold jewelry that I find timeless. I recently launched my own collection and am very inspired by his designs although I am prone to big statement pieces. That's why I love how Liz Taylor is used to personify this group. Nobody had a finer appreciation for big jewels than Elizabeth! It's a gorgeous picture.
