Friendly Kisses Or ???

I've always had friends (women) who I kiss and hug. I even have a few male friends who sneak in a kiss on the cheek when we hug hello or goodbye.  These are old friends who I have years of experiences with.

I remember one time in New Orleans many years ago when I met a woman who had seen me perform (I'm a guitarist). She approached me with her two kids nearby and gave me a hug and a kiss, and I, assuming that it was a "Friendly" greeting and not a come-on, kissed her back on the cheek, purposefully missing her lips.  I did this because it is what I have always done with people I don't know yet... (I guess that sounds strange, doesn't it?)  But what I picked up from her response was that she was hurt that I did not kiss her on the lips.  Am I out of line for thinking that?

no, you're not being foolish for that line of thinking, she was just being a moron!
