Oh totally, Memories like that are awesome. My Opa (gone now at 92 yrs ) would love telling me stories all my life, one that stuck in my head was while in Holland during the war, he and friends would steal the poles that the Germans were using to make telephone lines with and cut them up for firewood to heat and cook with . It frustrated the Germans to no end cause they could figure out how the stole them because they were so big and heavy they thought there'd be a trail. My Opa actually just used a wire saw with a series of pulleys they would mount on a bike and he and his friends would take turns pedalling, collecting sawdust, cut it into manageable pieces and cart them off. All done after curfew. And so many more stories. I love looking at old pics and just wondering what it was like and what was going on in that particular place at that time , just absolutely fascinating.

Thank you for commenting and sharing a story! Stories of real life, for me, are always so very facinating. I'm glad you were able share that time with him listening to those memories :)
