A Sons Lullaby Song Written For His Murdered Mom- If You Have Lost Someone Close To You, This Will Touch Your Heart!

The little boy barely knew his mother.

"I wish that I could just see you. All I have are the pictures of my youth," sings Welland native Justin Deschamps, in his new song called In My Memory, about his mother Paula Lynn Deschamps.

Deschamps was only four years old when his mother disappeared from their Wallace Ave. apartment in September 1987.

A massive search for her ensued.

Her decomposed body was found a month later in an abandoned area off Brown Rd.

Deschamps' mom was murdered.

She was only 19 at the time of her death.

A man was charged with second-degree murder, served 11 years in jail and was released.

The lad grew up without a mother nor a father, but he had a strong support team comprised of relatives and friends.

For the past few years, the singer and songwriter had thought about writing a song about his mother. He contacted James Collins, also a songwriter and musician, about helping him construct a song.

Deschamps and Collins discussed the young mother and her horrific fate for hours and hours before putting pen to paper. David Celia also assisted in the process.

The emotional and moving tribute is now on YouTube. Both Deschamps and Collins hope it will hit local radio airwaves soon.

It took Deschamps, who is now 27, a long time to be able to discuss the murder that left him orphaned.

"I had problems with anger as a child. I couldn't talk about it," he told The Tribune in an interview this week.

Now he's comfortable telling his story through words and music.

"It brought back a lot of emotions," he said when writing the lyrics.

"It brings back memories."

Memories such as watching other kids with their moms at their side and him without one.

"It really bothered me to grow up not having a mother in my life," he explained.

Although the details are sketchy, Deschamps does recall the days and weeks after his mother's disappearance. His relatives would keep telling him that his mom would be back, because they didn't know if she was alive or not.

At the funeral, Paula was in a closed casket.

"I was begging to see my mom one last time, but I couldn't."

Collins calls the song a lullaby prayer to Deschamps's mother. He said he was honoured to have been asked to help the Eastdale Secondary School grad write the song.

"I'm very happy with what came out of it," Collins said.

Added Deschamps: "I'm definitely proud of what I've accomplished. It makes me happy."

Deschamps thanks his relatives, Collins, girlfriend Laura Forest and friends for helping him persevere through the wicked loss in his life.

He always remembers his mother and his fond memories of her are close to his heart.

"Hey, do you ever hear me wish you goodnight. Hey, I think about you everyday of my life," he sings.

"This much is true, I could never be without you."
