My Escape.

I love all types of music...classical, rock, pop, metal, r & b, country. I take pride that I have Beastie Boys sitting right next to Bach in my CD collection. Music can inspire me and calm me, relax me and give me energy. Its my escape from the many stresses of life.

Music expresses feeling and thought, without language; it was below and before speech, and it is above and beyond all words.

Music is the universal language. I absolutely enjoy it, I just wish I could sing better. :o)

I do agree with you about using music to get away from every day things. the only type that I don't really care for is Rap.

Quite a few people can't seem to grasp that hard rock and heavy metal music calms me down when I am irritated or in a bad mood. I think it has to do with the fact that I have a lot of pent up anger that the music helps me to release. If there were no rock music, I don't know that I'd be able to stay so calm LOL

I know exactly how you feel! I have so many different kinds of music in my collection that it absolutely baffled my husband when we started dating. When he saw my CD collection, which had everything from Vivaldi to the Violent Femmes to Merle Haggard, he said, "What kind of girl ARE you, anyway?" I laughed and said, "one you'll never figure out, even if we know each other 100 years."

I think there's a point in your appreciation for music where you start to universally accept and become open to all different genres of music. I'm kind of the same, I like the blues, pop rock, indie, screamo, hip hop, and a whoole bunch of different genres. And all of it helps me sort of forget for a while.<br />
