get very involved with my music. I'm extremely attached to my favorite artists; I make sure to own ALL their music and I've long since memorized every song. Most of my music is connected with some memory or period in my life, or it expresses a thought or idea that I consider very central to my personality.
I can't casually listen to music I don't know well, or don't absolutely love. It takes me a while to acclimate myself to a new artist--I don't just listen to stuff willy-nilly. If I can't make a deep connection to it, I don't bother with it.
Just another facet of my obsessive approach to life! :)
