Texas Vs Ohio State - National Anthem

Texas vs. Ohio State- National Anthem.

The Blind Boys of Alabama consists of men who have been singing together since they were kids at a school for the blind in Alabama. Some of them are in their 80's and many people consider them living legends.

The Blind Boys will be receiving a Grammy Lifetime Acheivement Award in February, and their latest release, "Down In New Orleans," has been nominated for a Grammy as well.

You may have seen them singing the National Anthem before kickoff at the Fiesta Bowl (Texas vs. Ohio State, on FOX Sports).

They will be presented with a Grammy Lifetime Acheivement Award at a ceremony held during Grammy Week in Februrary. This special Merit Award is presented by a vote of the Recording Academy's National Trustees to performers who, during their lifetimes, have made contributions of outstanding significance to the field of recording. Other artists receiving this award this year include the Four Tops.

The Blind Boys' latest record, "Down In New Orleans", has also been nominated for a Grammy and the Stellar Award for "Quartet of the Year".

I had a dream where I saw myself interviewing people and making small films.
The next night this dream came true when the Blind Boys granted me an interview after their headlining set at Strawberry Music Festival in Yosemite National Park. I was not expecting my dream to manifest so quickly and I had to scribble the stories they told me on cocktail napkins.
The napkins still reside in my LappyTop case. The stories they told me were the tales of old blind men who have been on the road a lifetime. One of them died a few days after the interview and I guess I got the last interview with the entire group.

Many other interviews with entertainers have followed, but this group will always be special to me because they remind me to follow my dreams.

Its awesome that you got to interview them ;) They seem interesting. I'm going to check out some of their songs. They prove that even with a disability you can still achieve your dreams.
