I Just Love a Musical

I was awestruck by "Phantom of the Opera!"  I went with a boyfriend who said he didn't see much of the show onstage because he was watching the show on my face!  I have never seen anything so big and beautiful!  The chandelier when it fell.  Masquerade.  The scene where the phantom poles through the underground river with the stage filled with candles.  Gorgeous!   So that is obviously my favorite musical.  But I've also seen and loved "Cabaret", "Cats", "South Pacific", and "The Music Man."   And I will even add a real nice high school production of "Beauty and the Beast" where my niece played a cheese grater!  I liked the movie versions of "Oliver" and "My Fair Lady" and "Hello Dolly."  I guess I'm just a sucker for a musical!

Saw a new one tonight - "Singin' in the Rain" at my niece's high school again. It was really good! They have some great performers in that school! My niece was in the chorus - she's a little too shy to try for big parts! She did have one line - said "you look beautiful" to Lina Lamont - and she was wonderful if I may brag!

Phantom is great. I enjoy musicals too and love all the ones you mentioned except Cabaret. I do not know why, but I just do not like it. I also think that Les Mis is highly overrated. It was okay at best, but not certainly worthy of all the praise that was heaped upon it!
