Luckily for me, there was a chocolate lab female who temperament tested at the top of the service dog testing chart. I got to name her myself. That's the first time I got to name my own dog. That made her special.
Then I started trying to train her. She learned easily, although she is remarkably stubborn about learning. She insists on her treat at the moment of completing the task. LOL! I don't blame her. I want my reward right away too!
In short, I have come to love this now not so little puppy. She is smart, calm, willing, and very trainable. I think I'm in for a long and happy association with my new service dog.
