I Love My Dear Friend Lisa
I was sitting in a foreign country at a church function speaking and understanding the language minimally, and noticed a young lady mimicking my every move. After realizing what she was doing, and seeing the sparkle in her eye, I felt I could try and muttle through a rough conversation with her. She asked me, right away, where she knew me from. I told her that I had never met her. We both felt a little puzzled by this fact since we just knew that we knew the other from somewhere. This was the beginning of a lifelong friendship. She became instantly attached to me and visited me every chance she had for the rest of the time I spent in her country. My language skills improved and we had a connection that could never be matched. We understood each other in ways beyond language.
During the past 18 years we have both married, had children and gone on with our lives, but never leaving the other one out. We have kept in touch through letters, emails, phone calls and pictures. Finally after so many years we were able to see each other again. She came to America to stay for 3 weeks. It was the best 3 weeks ever. Many years had passed, but the feelings were still fresh. The laughter, the tears, the hugs we shared will continue on until the next time one of us can visit.
She knows me better than anyone and I know her. We are like twins that were separated at birth. I love her dearly.
