A Mistake Becomes A Blessing

My youngest daughter turned 16 in November 2010 and found she was pregnant in January 2011. Needless to say, we were shocked. She was never a troublemaker or the kind of girl I remembered from highschool that was a teen mom. Now, no offense to teen moms, I just ran with a pretty tough crowd.
I had a couple of choices. 1) come down hard on her or 2) try to be understanding and get all the info before I went and found the punk that deserved to die for NOT forcing himself upon my baby - girl and for probably saying a mutual yes, as kids do. I had hoped we had taught her better about contraceptives, but THAT was out the window. So I held her and didn't say anything for a moment. When we got a chance to talk I told her to never forget that she made a mistake and to learn from it, but don't ever think of or call that child a mistake.
In September of 2011, my granddaughter was born. It has been a learning experience for me and my daughter, but we usually listen to my wife...a wonderful teacher (and a really sexy grandma ;-p) Love is the glue that holds all of the other asspects like understanding and caring and learning and, and, and, you get it. :)
