Let It Remain Just That -- the Past

I don't see what the big deal is here.  Everyone has a past.  We have all made mistakes and errors and done wrong.  There are people whose history may be impressive and prominant, whom I would not get along with as well.  A person's past is not a blueprint for how I judge them today.  If we get along, if we click, then I don't see why their past should matter.  From the experiences of many of the people I've known over the years, I know someone's past does not influence whether I love them or not.
