I Work With Under-priveleged Children
I work at a non-profit day care. About half of our children's parents are low-income. We also maintain the diversity of our community in our ratios. Most of where I've been in life has put me in close proximity with people who are similar to me--same income, same ethnicity, etc. This job has put me in close proximity with people different than me and I love it. I love the interactions between children and co-workers that I have. I also enjoy knowing that I'm touching these children's lives every day. Some don't get interaction from adults much, except when they're at school/day care. I've also learned a lot about how to treat and discipline children from my job--which will be great for when I have kids of my own someday.
