Baby Radar
Posted October 28th, 2009 at 9:41AM
It is no big surprise that I have been in the dumps lately. Having a hard time finding a smile, let alone any joy in my day.
So, I go through the motions for most of it. Laundry, dishes, cooking, etc.
The other night I was in the middle of cooking dinner. In a really down mood as has been usual. Hating every minute of what I was doing and just wanting to go to bed, when my toddler son came into the kitchen, and hugged my leg.
I bent down to give him a proper hug, and after our embrace he looked at me, gave me a "smoochie" on the cheek and said, "Mummy, oor beeatisul"
(happy tears...touched to the core tears)(it still tears me up to think about it)
It was so earnest, and so sweet. He gave me a little dose of joy at a moment I really needed it. Like he had baby radar or something...

I love that, Des! It's so touching because it's so pure and honest. We have to learn to play games with each other as we grow up. Sometimes, it seems too bad that we have to.

Baby radar, great way to put it! Little boys are so sweet.
-
They don't know how to fake being loving. They just go with what they feel, and it creates such joy because it is so sincere. :)

Me either IVFP, because I am pretty sure that is ALL that keeps me going these days. :(
-
I appreciate all the listening that goes towards my many laments. Thanks :)
I wonder if fun destry will ever appear someday again... *sigh* -
Kids are very intuitive - they just seem to know when Mommy hugs and kisses are needed!
Sorry to hear you are in the funk my friend. I am sending you hugs and lots of Sunshine from the Big Island! -

thanks ABL :)
tonight he said, out of the blue, "Mummy, I wuv ooo" :) :) :) -
awwwwww!! A 14 year old saying it out of the blue. That is almost extra special because I think by then they get a bit more jaded. That is wonderful!
Yes, I think it does mean we are fabulous! :) -

Little boys ARE very sweet...makes you wonder when they lose that and become typical man jerks huh.... Your wee one sounds so sweet. My little boy is still working on learning to talk but he definitely has "Mama" down pat.... I love how he calls me from his crib when he wakes up....
"Mama?.....Maaamaaaaa....." lol. He's the only man who can wake me up at 4am and not make me grouchy. -
:) cute! Thanks for reviving this story and a few other memories that make me smile! :)
-
LOL OMG I just realized how old this post was! Sorry...still new here....feeling my way blindly through EP!
-
oh! no worries! I love it when my old stories get revived! :)

Just today, he told me he thought I "was a good cooker" and that he thought I was "pwetty AND beeaful" (the pronunciation may change, but it has the same emotion!) :D
-
my son is 21 and still talks like that..although instead of pretty and beautiful, he says, nerd and dork..but I know what he means! I think what you got on yor hands there is a pretty special relationship!!
-
I agree! :)

Kids have a way of putting everything in perspective, huh?
