I Love My Teacher
I won't tell
you
how much I think about you
(God that
would embarrass us
both)
just that I think about you
(only once in a while).
I won't tell you how many times
I walk by your class room-
Hoping you'll look up
Caught off guard
and smile-
All I will admit is that
I walk by
(on occassion).
I won't tell you about my
dreams
(God you wouldn't be able to
look me in the eyes
again)
just that I dream about you
(maybe).
I won't tell you
about the doodling in my
history notebook
of your name
(and maybe some
hearts);
I won't tell you about
the poems
I've written for you;
I won't tell you about the tears I've wasted
waiting for
hopeless happy endings;
I won't tell you about the
jealousy I feel when I hear you
talk about her
when I see you laughing with other girls
when I think of you holding her,
kissing her,
marrying her,
loving her;
I won't tell you about all the boys-
the time wasted chasing-
trying to forget the one boy
that counted-
the one I could,
can,
will
never
have
(You).
I'll simply tell you
I love you.
(If you ever ask)
and even then
I can't guarantee I'll
answer
(just like
you can't gurantee
you feel nothing for me).
