A Secret Place To Hide

When I was a child, I had two secret places.

One was in a huge forcynthia mass that could hold 5 comfortably and was close to the house. The other was behind the corn field in the woods. The best was the woods. I would spend the entire day exploring, acting out fanticies, and feeling the magic of the place giving me the strength I needed to take back into the "real" world. Now, my childhood playground is a development full of hundreds homes that all look the same.

But, the woods are still my favorite place to be. Sharing that experience with my family on vacation in mountains that are covered with expansive forest is priceless. Watching my children find the same magic in the woods by our home brings me so much joy.

I think I spent my entire childhood in the woods. I feel lucky to live in the wonderful wooded state of MA. Three years ago, my husband and I bought a house with tons of trees and this summer we have cleared a path through the acre in back so I can strole with the dog and explore. We found an old kids playhouse all fallen down and overgrown with vines. We never knew it was there until this spring! Now that I am 50, I am back in the woods of my childhood, yet these are MY woods!! I only wish I had been able to raise my kids here so they could have had the same "woodsy" childhood I had.

Awe, I love this. What a way with words youhave.

I always found that the woods was the perfect place to fantasize about things and I loved it. I'm glad that you still have somewhere close to continue and share that experience further more.
