Old People Are the Greatest

Nothing is more delightful than sitting down with an old person to chat.  Oh the things you can learn if you only listen.  I enjoy hearing the stories of how things were.

When I was a baby my mother died in our apartment.  I was then adopted by a couple that were over 50 years older than I.  I was loved, spoiled and properly educated.  I remember in 1st grade being ashamed that my parents were so old.  Other children would ask me why.  I really had no answer other than I'm adopted.  Kids can really be cruel.

I had a boyfriend my sophomore year in high school.  I think I loved his grandmother far more than I liked him.  She was so pretty with her long white hair and I couldn't understand how her bacon was always straight and crispy.  When I stopped seeing him (because he was a butthole and wanted to force me to have sex before I was ready), I stopped going by as often to visit her and her husband.  A couple of years passed and I decided to stop in and say hello.  I found out then that she had passed.  I was greatly saddened.  Life is so short.

When my mother passed away in 2007 she was 92.  I miss her very much.  Old people have been a blessing in my life.  I still have my Dad who will be 93 next month.
