Why Do You Love Photography?

I have always had a love for photographs...since a young age, I love looking through old family albums, looking at pictures in glossy magazine and being amazed at how they captured those images. I love how a photo evokes memories. Also, I enjoy the challenge of capturing an image that has been done a million times but capturing it in your own way and putting your own stamp on it.

More importantly for me though, I love how a photography can trigger memories, for example, looking through photos of you and a group of your friends on holiday evokes so many memories, sights and even smell of where you are. Photos of you and your partner, the times you shared and where you've been to, both physical place and places in your minds.

In every story I write on EP, I refer to my recent separation with my wife, I guess I do this because I'm joining these groups to be reflective. I have thousands of photos throughout the years with my wife, photos of when we were friends, relationship and eventually marriage. Photo's of our holidays abroad, photos at home and birthdays, Christmases etc. I cherish every image.

It was my wife’s encouragement that furthered my love of photography, she bought me a Nikon DSLR 3 years ago and since then I have been snapping at every opportunity. Trying to always better myself, to capture that 1 image that I am truly happy with, truly proud to show people and say 'I took that' (I'm close but not there yet)

I love all forms of photography, from landscape, portrait, close-ups to abstract.

Anyway, that’s my point of view….why do you guys love photography???

Nicely said. I must say I love old photos too. AND how some evoke memories, emotions and feelings about where you were when you took it or when you are in the shot itself. Love photography. I love the story it tells and looking for deeper meanings.
