Wanna Play? This is something I grew up on...playing cards and working puzzles. It was something that I did with my grandmother, my parents, my friends, and my parents friends. Whenever I would go on vacation--whether it be visiting the beach, or the mountains, or just a party....the games and cards would be brought out. My grandmother is the best at cards. It didn't matter what game it is, how many rules, how many hands....it just doesn't matter....she is the best at any card game. She taught me what strategies to use in what game, how to be patient and wait for the right time to show your hand. But it was my grandpa who taught me how to play poker and how to bet & bluff. The other grandkids didn't really have an interest in it. But when my family and I took a trip to Las Vegas with my grandparents--he thought I should know how to play Texas Hold 'Em. He also had THE best luck. It didn't matter whether it was slots, poker, you name it...he had good luck. It probably helped him that he knew when to stop. He was satisfied if he won just a little over what he came with.
This story has become a walk down memory lane for me. But to tie it up with a nice little bow.....my favorite games are Apples to Apples, Fact or Crap, Scrabble (the electronic as well as the "old school" version), Wits & Wagers, and Whats Yours Like. My favorite card games are Texas Hold 'Em and Shanghai...both, of course, taught to me by my grandparents.
