Its Not How Many Words...

I have found that the real enjoyment for me in poetry, is the ability for the poet to use so few words, and convey so much. One of my favorites, William Carlos Williams, penned a short poem which said so much, with very few words.

I have eaten
the plums
that were in
the icebox

and which
you were probably
for breakfast

Forgive me
they were delicious
so sweet
and so cold

To me a love poem, a poem of modernity, a sensory delight.
