I Love Pogo
I have tons of favorites on Pogo, but I aim for diversity in placing a game in my favorites that are headed with the hearts and try to keep the list short.
Canasta
Crazy Cakes
Everyone Wins Bingo
Fortune Bingo
Jungle Gin
Penguin Blocks
Thousand Island Solitaire
Pogo Addiction Solitaire
I play Jungle Gin, Canasta, Pogo Addiction Solitaire and Thousand Island Solitaire every day.
I am completely flabbergasted by some of the players or playmates in the multi-player rooms. Some people get mighty mean and impatient if no one sits at their table to play a game. Some get mighty mean if there isn't a table set for them to join. Some have the gall to seek out someone who pays for their membership and says they need certain things like guest passes, badge albums paid for, badge challenges paid for, etc. Some accuse others of cheating if they won more than one hand in a sitting or if their one hand was impressive. Completely horrendous.
I never play rated games in Jungle Gin. I find I can concentrate better to just minimize the lobby and play against a robot. I set the table for Oklahoma Gin and don't put a timer on it. Sometimes I go for the 100-point games. For the most part though, I pick the max of 700-point games so I can get more out of the game. I set a password so the table is private, then have at it with the robot. I also set the aces as Low Only. I don't like to set it as Low Or High since it is worth 15 points in favor of the bot if I get stuck with it, as opposed to one point in Low Only. I pump my fist and get really excited if I am able to underknock my opponent. Sometimes I click to knock and surprise myself when I get Gin and see the Gin sticks shoot out toward my opponent. :) Sometimes I am about to knock then I have to stop and think cause if I go with discarding another card, I get Gin and Gin gives 20 bonus points. I love the Oklahoma format though cause it stops the robot from being able to knock first with an absurd amount just to try to catch me with all my cards, and so the knock amount of the first card is always nice. I never click the option to not allow knocking because it is not possible for me to always get Gin and that's what has to happen if I don't allow knocking. A few times though the game gets cancelled due to the deck getting emptied. But the points being doubled at random times is really nice and clean-sweeping is nice too. :)
The animations on the robotic avatar and my avatar are funny. The smiles, the frowns, the angry faces and excited faces.
I play rated or unrated games in Canasta. Some people are mighty mean and act like they're going to die if their ratings go down and they take it out on you if it happens. I play unrated if I want to get a challenge completed. For the most part, I choose rated because I like the human interactions. I love meeting men and women, boys and girls, from various cities, states and countries.
I play in 2-player mode or 4-player mode in Canasta. I use the Backdoor links if the rooms my friends and I frequent are full on the main pages in Pogo and it lets me in even if it appears full.
If I play 2-player mode, it is because I want to play with more cards and I want to try to watch my human opponent's gameplay if they are better than me so I can learn how to better my gameplay. If I play in 4-play, I don't really watch the gameplay to learn but just to play in the game. In both modes, I chat with my fellow human playmates. We have fun, unless he or she is someone who picks on people's gamely outcomes.
In both modes, I play rated or unrated. Rated for the most part. If I am the one to set the table, I set it for 45 seconds so those that want to steal ratings can't just sit there and get our ratings after we leave. I set it for 2 canastas because I feel like 1 is too easy of a win and doesn't allow others in the game the time to try to build melds. I set it so people can draw 2 cards when they pick up cards. I set it so only my colored rating and one higher up can play to be fair to the higher colors and lower colors, even though to me ratings are deceptive because they don't show a person's true skill. I make it so that people can't come watch our table. I have had instances where other people have had their friends play opposite me and they would click me to see my cards then tell everyone what I had. I have had instances where guys come and harass me sexually. So I don't let people watch the tables. I do however let people replace computers if someone leaves for any reason and the robots replace them. I also set it so that the deck is frozen because my heart beats super fast and hard in a pick-up game, so if the deck can't be picked up, it is better on my heart. I also allow tips to be seen so that people can click and see how far they are from the next rank. I also let wild cards be used in the opening melds. If I join someone else's table, it has to be frozen and have 2 canastas preset.
I will buy the Canasta playing cards one day when I can find someone off the Internet who can play with me and also buy the automatic card shuffler and the card holders.
