I've Seen Radiohead Live 3 Times, and I'm Only 18.

Ah, what a great experience to come across, for Radiohead changed my life.

I was depressed when I was a teenager, literally hating everything when I was 13. I hated my parents, my teachers, my classmates. Everyone was a 'prep' or stuck up, but not really, I was just a raging teen. I became extremely suicidal, I had overdosed on Zoloft and was rushed to the hospital, where I then stayed in a psychiatric ward for a week. The day before I was looking at someones binder and saw that he had scribbled all of his favorite bands on top of it. I recognized all of them; Led Zeppelin, The Doors, Kings of Leon, Nirvana, The Beatles, etc,. Except for one, Radiohead. I had never heard of them, except for that ANNOYING song creep. When I came out of the hospital, now on different medication, feeling blank and content, my dad asked me what the first thing I wanted to do was. He was so sad knowing that I had been in this depressing situation, it completely slapped him in the face of fatherhood. I told him I wanted to go to a yummy restaurant (hospital food, ugh) and to go to B+N to get a 'Radiohead CD.' I picked up the one that was available, OK Computer. Can I just say, HOLY F*CKING SH*T, THIS MUSIC IS WHAT MUSIC HAS NEVER BEEN. I found myself, through this band. I listened to Radiohead ALL DAY, EVERY DAY, FOR A YEAR! It got me through my freshman year of High School, I had made no friends but I didn't care! I had the best friend of them all, my Walkman with a Radiohead CD in it. I became at ease, no more black clothes or anger or rage. Of course, those outbursts here and there, but this music literally saved me and turned me onto a new path. The lyrics, the music, their attitude. Everything, so mysterious, just like me. I felt understood through song. I have 'For A Minute There, I Lost Myself' tattooed on my wrist, and I've seen Radiohead 3 times. Once at the Bonnaroo Music Festival in Tennessee in 2006 (I was 15!) Once in San Diego in 2007, and once again in Santa Barbara in 2008. I saw them alone in Santa Barbara, oh god what an intimate evening that was. I am SO THANKFUL for this band, they are a God send to me, and I hope other have felt this way as well.
