My Family Rocks

Music has always been a big part of my life. I had to take piano lessons when I was a kid, and I took guitar classes that were offered at my high school. I also played saxophone in the jazz band. So I like music from the baroque,classical, and romantic periods, plus jazz and big band music. But the music that touches me most is ROCK! I love classic rock such as the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Tom Petty,Heart, and way too many more to mention. I will be forever in love with Pink Floyd. I also love modern and hard rock such as the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Metallica, and Godsmack. My husband is a total metalhead and has been since I met him 24 years ago. This love of rock music has carried over to our children. All three of my children have electric guitars. IT IS VERY LOUD AT OUR HOUSE SOMETIMES! My son is in college to become a music teacher. He plays the cello beautifully, and brings tears to my eyes. Then he rocks out some Metallica on his electric guitar. I LOVE it! My 12 year old son plays trumpet and guitar. I am so proud of him, because he thinks of a song he would like to learn and then goes online and learns it on his own. I call my 9 year old daughter the next Joan Jett. She has a very punk style about her. She takes the few chords she knows and comes up with her own lyrics. She is now learning Bad Reputation by Joan Jett. My favorite thing is when one of them masters a song and then comes to me and says, "Sing it with me, Mom."
