Ive always loved roller derby since I was 13 years old in middle school. I would love to join a league but I dont know how to go about it. Any advice for a Newbie trying to get started off?

I agree with Roller Mom. I'm trying to join my league here in Nashville as well. I did the things she said a while back and am currently looking for equipment on some online stores. I will add that you can look on YouTube and search "Derby training" or "derby workouts" and find some good videos to help you train before actually tryin out. Squats are good to practice because you have to have good endurance while skating low Ina squat position. Also those videos will teach you how to do cross overs, stops, jumps, and other tricks of the trade. Read the rules and learn the moves first. And always practice. Talk to the leagues around you. They can tell you all you need to know.

Search for leagues in your area and ask if you can observe. Find out their policy on joining the league and go to as many bouts as you can. Read the WFTDA rule book and skate skate skate. Go to open skates as much as you can and practice things like skating low, speed and doing your crossovers and building your endurance. Good luck :)
