My rink days were mid 70's and the music was the best part. Wish I could remember all the tunes they played for us to skate to.

yeah, me too, although I suspect it was a lot of disco, and such! lol I do remember, however, a LOT of Canadian bands being played, like April Wine, and Streetheart.... now they are in my head. :P

I MUST ask. Back in the 80s, did you wear the glitter, spandex, big hair, etc?

It is fun and I am good at it--but it is much harder than it looks if you are looking to clock miles, and the only problem as far as I am concerned is that if you make a mistake--the ground is very unforgiving--even if you opt for the pads.

I have a friend who skates every day in a park near where she lives. She has a mohawk, not an ounce of body fat, muscles like steel and she rarely falls. People often come up to her and say, "Can I ask you a personal question?"

She always smiles and says, "76."

She credits skating for her longevity and vitality. So--get out there! Any outdoor exercise is good for your soul I believe. Great for you!

76?! WOWWWW! It is far easier on smooth surfaces! I am way less of a chicken to actually give it, and get the exercise it can be, if I know there are no rocks and such to snag me unawares.

Yeah--but you cannot GO anywhere o smooth surfaces. I cannot do circles / laps. I like to have a destination. That is what makes it fun--but off track is brutal--it is hard work, but it is great exercise--just beware of rocks and sticks and litter and squirrels.

I met her here, actually, my skating friend. Do you remember someone from years ago called Armadillo?
