Maybe...

Our company joins the Dragon Boat Festival yearly. I have always been keen in joining. So after five years, feeling I am buffer (LOL) than before, I have signed up for the race.

They laughed. People at work makes fun of my skinny arms *rolls eyes*; but they appreciate my determination... and my gaiety. They just can not openly admit they want a faerie to join them. Haha...

Oh yeah... Mr. Sylph laughed at this idea, too... *whack*... grrr...

Two weeks ago, I got my note stating I got in as a paddler. *bounces up and down... whacks Mr. Sylph again*...

Practice is starting this August, once a week. The race is set for September 10-12. We are "Racing the Red for Research". Proceeds will go to the Canadian Cancer Society. It is a 500-meter course with 20 paddlers, a steersperson, and a sync drummer. I am very much excited about this event. As much as it is fun, I realize it can be very competitive. *wish the faerie luck?*

So as my excitement builds, I look forward to loving the sport. The last serious rowing/paddling I did was back in uni days... and this was many moons ago. I understand the science behind it; I just hope my skinny arms make it.

So maybe I will love it...
I think I will.

You sound like one of the supervisors in the team. She asked me why I want to join and I said I've always wanted to join but needed to prepare myself for it. And that it's fun. She replied, "I join to win. It would be more fun if we win". I just laughed at her...
Aaahh... pc games... Sylph Jr is egging me for a new one... so I gave conditions before I purchase it. Otherwise, he would never stand up from his chair...

*runs to Keye* Yay yay yay!!! I missed you, girl... *bear hugs Keye and both fall on the ground... tickles Keye... giggles everywhere*...
My (skinny) arms were not sore at all. I have to thank my yoga for that. Days before, we were concentrating on shoulder and arms strength. This really paved the way for the paddling. Next practice is next Wednesday. I'm more worried about the water really. It's river water; not exactly the cleanest I've been into... the colour alone gives me the creeps!...

Thanks, Gee... *hugs*... it has been fun so far... plus the pre-charity work we needed to do. We'll be having pancake breakfast, hotdog-selling at Sobey's, 50-50 draw, possibly a barbecue, too... somewhere... all good and fun stuff... then comes the race... *flexes arms*... here comes Super Sylph...

Thanks, Koalaguy. We had our first practice last week and it was a good one. And fun too. Had to work on synchronizing ourselves... but the motions are easy enough. I believe the heavier ones find difficulty with the strokes but heck, are they strong...

Good luck! Hope you have fun :-)
I used to love kayaking when I was younger. I was a pretty scrawny kid, but something about the paddling action seemed to suit my physique. Maybe because I was such a lightweight it was easier for me to push my kayak along.

Hmmm..ponders....faerie strutting in bikini...faerie strutting in bikini buttered...you'll just get sunburnt better if buttered.....roast faerie...make sure you have sunscreen on Sylph!

*faerie struts in bikini*... well, if that's how you feel... *faerie struts away*...

Thanks, Mick!!! But you'll surely get a sore soaked faerie after... ooohhh... *dons on bikini*...
Dean... lol... a Viking helm?! You're funny... I don't know yet who the drummer is. The team will meet for the first time on August 5th. If I don't like the drummer, I'll push him/her out of the boat for you... *winks*...

I hope you do well. I'm sure the faerie will :). Good luck
