I Might Not Be Fast And I Might Not Go Far But I May Just Be A "true Runner"

I started running because my Dad, who has always been an avid runner, really wanted me to run a 5K race with him. That was about 3-4 yrs ago. I ran the race without training. It was brutal! I couldn't believe how hard it was! Since then I have developed a bit of runner's mentality. I am not fast and I have not been able to run any further than 3miles. Even though there are times when I say this is not for me and I consider quitting, I cannot. I am addicted. I am addicted to the self challenge and the feeling of accomplishment when I have good runs. I love how therapuetic it can be at times. I love that I make my dad proud. I have had good runs where I feel like a champion and bad runs where I feel like giving up. I know I will never give up though. I want to become a better runner.

I just want to say, my son runs with me occasionally. He's not fast and doesn't go more than a mile. As far as I am concerned it's the best mile of my life every time. I think it's a great bonding activity and I commend you for running with your dad. Like i tell my son, you don't have to prove anything, just run with me.
