I started reading these books when I was 17 and one of the first things that struck me was the internal dialogue issue. Perhaps this is because I have such a non-stop internal dialogue going - on every subject, analyzing everything, and then analyzing the analysis. Just mind boggling, continuous jabber. I still have problems with this but try to just let it pass by, not to focus on it. I've noticed again and again that if I can quiet myself I "know" things - they are always little things (not like the winning lottery numbers, more like so-and-so has done such a thing - and it will turn out to be true, or a clear insight into a question that, if the action is taken, is perfect). Sadly, these moments are all too rare - but I am encouraged that they are possible and continue to strive for further progress.
